Harper's Young People is an illustrated weekly publication for children that includes short stories, tales from history, natural history, poetry, puzzles, and other entertainment. This 46th issue of the serial was published on September 14th, 1880. In this issue, a new serial story begins in which Mr. Morton's Select School is joined by a mysterious new pupil who leaves all the students wanting desperately to know, "Who Was Paul Grayson?". Also in this issue, readers missing "The Moral Pirates" of past issues will love the nautical nonsense of the boy sailors in "The 'Longshore Yacht Club"; an adventurous story in which a young passerby must surmount a building's many obstacles to rescue a very important person when a distress note falls in his path in "Dave's Great Lunch"; and readers get first look at the "newly" published science article all about the chemistry of combustion -- it's hot! These stories and many more are sure to inform and inspire children of all ages. Illustrations from this book can be viewed on Project Gutenberg's publication of this book at: https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/29136. This periodical was published by Harper & Brothers, known today for their publications Harper's Bazaar and Harper's Magazine. - Summary by Jill Engle
