Three Men in a Boat (To Say Nothing of the Dog) (version 3)

A humorous account by English writer Jerome K. Jerome of a boating holiday on the Thames between Kingston and Oxford. The three men are based on Jerome himself (the narrator J.) and two real-life friends, George Wingrave (who would become a senior manager in Barclays Bank) and Carl Hentschel (the founder of a London printing business, called Harris in the book), with whom he often took boating trips. The dog, Montmorency, is entirely fictional but, "as Jerome admits, developed out of that area of inner consciousness which, in all Englishmen, contains an element of the dog." The trip is a typical boating holiday of the time in a Thames camping skiff. This was just after commercial boat traffic on the Upper Thames had died out, replaced by the 1880s craze for boating as a leisure activity. - Summary by Wikipedia (6 hr 57 min)

Really good voice

I really like the humorous style im which this text is written, but it can be quite boring at times. I really enjoyed the narrator's voice as it put me right there with the characters on the boat.

unimpressed

Mediocre story and reading made unbearable to listen at times when narrator puts on some ridiculous voices that presents the characters as 90 year old angry American hillbillies when they are actually relatively young British/Englishmen. Stick to your own voice please, and the listening will be more enjoyable!

The voices that the reader does changes the feel of the story a bit. Nevertheless its quite enjoyable. Perfect if you are looking for something with a light mood and full of comedy ( the voices the reader does makes it more comical)

Excellent, but can sometimes wander vaguely down bunny trails, which can sometimes be annoying. Also, the reader is very quiet!
