Chicken Man

The Mysterious Hummer

English · Humor, Radio

Chicken Man is a comic radio adventure centered on Benton Harbor, a mild-mannered young man who becomes the crime-fighting hero Chicken Man. His earnest attempts to take on wrongdoing provide the show’s central joke: he approaches superheroics with great seriousness, even as his exploits invite affectionate parody.

The program uses a brisk, theatrical radio style, with performers bringing its characters and comic situations to life through dialogue, sound effects, and narration. Its superhero premise gives the stories room for mock suspense and action, while the humor comes from the contrast between Chicken Man’s heroic ambitions and his ordinary, often awkward manner.

Lighthearted and knowingly silly, Chicken Man is a playful send-up of crime-fighting adventures rather than a straight thriller. Its short, energetic scenes and deadpan comic spirit make it an easygoing listen for fans of classic radio comedy.
