Tales of the Texas Rangers
Play for Keeps
von
Tales of the Texas Rangers is a police procedural western centered on the work of the Texas Rangers, the state law-enforcement agency. Its stories bring listeners into investigations shaped by the wide-open landscapes and communities of Texas, where officers must piece together evidence and pursue suspects.
The program blends western adventure with crime-solving, following cases from their initial clues through the Rangers’ efforts to establish what happened. The title’s dated episode, “Play for Keeps,” offers a self-contained entry point into the series’ world of investigation and justice.
Its appeal lies in the combination of frontier atmosphere and methodical detective work: the Rangers face danger and uncertainty, but their cases turn on observation, persistence, and the pursuit of a clear resolution. The result is a radio western with the structure and momentum of a crime drama.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
