The Six Shooter

The Six Shooter stars Jimmy Stewart as Britt Ponset, a wandering cowboy whose travels across the American West bring him into contact with people facing difficult choices, conflicts, and unexpected turns of fortune. Britt is a capable gunman, but the series gives equal weight to his judgment, compassion, and reluctance to use violence.
Each installment is a self-contained Western drama, shaped by encounters on the trail and in frontier towns. The stories draw on familiar Western settings—open country, isolated communities, and the tensions that arise when people must settle disputes or decide whom to trust. Stewart’s narration and performance give the series a personal, conversational center.
The result is a thoughtful, understated Western, balancing suspense and action with humor and humane observation. Its focus is less on gunplay than on the character of Britt and the people he meets, making the program an inviting listen for anyone who enjoys classic radio drama and stories of the Old West.
