Orson Welles Radio Almanac is a variety program hosted by Orson Welles, bringing together spoken entertainment and musical performances. The title identifies Robert Benchley as part of this broadcast, offering a chance to hear the celebrated humorist in a radio setting alongside Welles.
The program’s almanac format suggests a mix of material rather than a single continuous drama. Welles’s distinctive, resonant delivery provides a strong presence, while the variety-show approach makes room for different voices and performances.
Listeners can expect an archival snapshot of mid-century radio entertainment, with the appeal of hearing Welles and Benchley share a broadcast. Its blend of personality, spoken performance, and music offers a different experience from a conventional serialized story.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
