Meredith Willson's Musical Revue

Put on Your Old Grey Bonnet

English · Music, Radio

Meredith Willson's Musical Revue brings music and comedy together in a radio variety program associated with composer, conductor, and performer Meredith Willson. Its title suggests a musical revue format, offering a blend of songs and comic entertainment rather than a single continuous dramatic story.

Listeners can expect the pleasures of a performance-centered broadcast, with music at its heart and a light, entertaining spirit. The subtitle, “Put on Your Old Grey Bonnet,” evokes the familiar song and the nostalgic flavor often associated with popular American music.

The result is a compact glimpse of radio variety, where melody and humor share the stage. It may appeal to listeners interested in Meredith Willson’s musical work and in the lively mix of music and comedy that made revue programs a distinctive part of radio entertainment.
