A Broken Heart in a Warzone is a dark comedy set in an unnamed warzone, where two thieves devise an audacious plan to exploit the chaos of bombing raids. Their scheme seems to be going well until an adulterous domestic drama and a wild animal disrupt their complacency.
This play features a talented cast including Sirine Saba, Paul Chahidi, Waleed El Gardi, Nabil Elouahabi, Omar Malik, Adam El Hagar, and Alexander Devrient. Produced and directed by Marion Nancarrow, it is a co-production with The Open University.
First broadcast on January 26, 2019, on BBC World Service Australasia, this play won the English as a Second Language prize in the BBC World Service/British Council International Playwriting Competition 2018. Aziz H, a Yemeni writer, presents his first play with this compelling narrative.
