High Adventure
Bob Monroe
High Adventure was a dramatic anthology series broadcast by Mutual from 1947 to 1954. The series was produced, directed, and written by Bob Monroe, who was known for his innovative approaches in radio production. Despite the limited budgets of Mutual compared to other networks, Monroe's creativity shone through as he utilized magnetic tape for rehearsals and edited them into broadcast-ready programs.
Monroe's unique methods included the use of prerecorded bridges and even recording musical pieces in Cuba with a local orchestra. His contributions to radio are not widely recognized today, as many of his series and programs have not survived. However, his legacy continues through The Monroe Institute, which he founded to explore consciousness and extra-sensory perception.
