SOME OF THE BEST "GOLDEN AGE RADIO" EVER !
Jonnie King
The "Inner Sanctum" Series was one of the most unique ever created in the early days of OTR. Hyman Brown's producing/directing of the show, that used the Opening Sound Effects of the "Creaking Door",that was actually in the basemnent to the Network, was a stroke of genius ! And, the addition of "Raymond" as the Host sealed the deal ! I used many of the "Inner Sanctum" shows on my syndicated Morning Feature "The Breakfast Serial" through the years...and the audiences loved each and everyone ! My favorites include: "Death For Sale" with Boris Karloff, "Terror By Night" starring Agnes Moorehead, and "The Corpse In The Cab" with Leon Janney as the Cab Driver. This is one of the All-TIme B-E-S-T Radio Series to ever hit the Airwaves...and if I could give it 6 Stars I would ! OH, and a Special Note to "Kaylene1943": I'm not sure about an "Inner Sanctum" show that featured a "cat/woman" as you described, BUT one of the most famous Episodes of Arch Obler's "Lights Out" was called "Cat Wife" and had a scenario much like you stated. Check-it out sometime...not sure if the "wife's" name was Kaylene, but the idea was the same. (NOTE: There was a Series of six "Inner Sanctum" Films starring Lon Chaney, and a 1948 Version featuring Charles Russell, and, one of my "B-Movie" favorite fems, the beautiful Mary Beth Hughes)
Misdated Show

InnerSanctum-Ep0242-TheManWhoCouldntDie-10-30-1945 stars Richard Widmark, not Boris Karloff, so it is from 46-02-12
Great sponsor but broadcast time too early for kids
justaskmike
I recall listening to the Inner Sanctum program about 1949-1950 when I was six years old. It was sponsored by Bromo Seltzer with that great talking train commercial (which added to the goosebumps as it sounded spooky). I didn't realize until recent years that it was broacast at 8 p.m. immediately following the Lone Ranger. While the show was not intended for children, it wasn't too smart to schedule it that early knowing that kids were still awake. It should have stayed at the 9 pm. broadcast time. I'm sure some mothers complained about it, but they wouldn't have sued the producer or some such nonsense as they might have today.

I was named after a Inner Sanctum Mystery story and I was born July 4, 1943. Apparently a woman would go out into the garden and turn into a black cat and her husband would call her home the next morning and her name was KAYLENE, so my aunt asked my Mother if she could name me if it was a girl. I would love to have you all try and help me find that episode so I could hear it for myself. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
