Mis-named file

(4 Sterne)

The file named "Duke Ellington 450122" actually features Charlie Barnet (3 songs, Obli-Bepop, Cherokee, and the Duke's "Cottontail" at the end of the show). Other performers are Eddie Hayward Quintet (2 songs, I think the first was "Please Don't Forget Me When I'm Gone" and a sizzling "Begin the Beguine" with nice piano by Eddie), Sam Beacon McDaniel (a patter monologue called "Somebody Else, Not Me"), and pianist Rose Murphy (who sings "I Can't Give You Anything But Love" in a little girl-like voice); the host is Ernie Whitman, who voiced Bill Jackson on 'Beulah'.

Music from an era when musicians actually played instruments when they performed. The sound quality was the best they had at the time it still has that far away feeling. Great music.
