As an avid listener of audio books (particularly Libravox) I have been remiss in virtually never reviewing (pure laziness and I apologize) but the ending of this book is magnificent! For Victor Hugo, it is not verbose but understated and all the more powerful for that. A rare gem.

Mans need to work and love is overwhelming to those who are not born rich. This is a great tale with rich details of land and seascapes.

I loved all the detailed description of ocean life. A rather fantastic story and I didn't like the ending. A lot of suspense.
