The story delves into themes of guilt and paranoia as the narrator hides the body of an old man beneath the floorboards, only to be haunted by the sound of the man's still-beating heart.

This classic tale is widely regarded as one of Poe's most famous short stories, showcasing his ability to evoke fear and suspense. The narrator's descent into madness is both chilling and compelling, making it a must-listen for fans of Gothic fiction.

Excellent for teaching Mood & Point of View!

(5 stars)

This recording/performance is absolutely perfect for teaching mood and point of view. The actual recording/performance is about 12 minutes long with a lot of extra sounds and dead air at the end that is not needed. The noises in the beginning help set the mood to the story. The acting is not overdone, in fact it is perfect, particularly for teaching point of view. The sounds, dead time and all really help the students understand mood. The ending is a bit long winded with the extra sounds, but up until the end it is absolutely perfect.

Really good, but there was like 30 mins of silence after story was finished

50 mins of blank time

This is a 70 min file but only the first 19 min is the actual story and probably a good 2-3 mins before that are just random sounds. After the first 19 mins the rest is just silence or random kinds of creepy noises. It might make a good Halloween sound track for a haunted house. Other wise the acting itself was rather poor and overly done.
