Candide (version 2)
Voltaire
Read by Ted Delorme
Candide is a relentless, brutal assault on government, society, religion, education, and, above all, optimism. Dr. Pangloss teaches his young students Candide and Cunegonde that everything in this world is for the best, a sentiment they cling to as the world steps in to teach them otherwise. The novel is brilliant, hilarious, blasphemous. . . and Voltaire never admitted to writing it. (4 hr 4 min)

Reviews
Bravo from Borneo
Lord Jim
This seminal piece of literature might appear quite tame today, but at the time of it's publication it posed such a threat to so many of societies institutions that it was banned. Voltaire's brilliance is that he challenged so many areas of understanding from a philosophical viewpoint and achieved this through such a remarkably accessible novella. The story is both an adventure of travel as it is an adventure of the mind.
Very Interesting !!!

I love to use this to read me to sleep. It backfired on me this time. Candide pulls you into the story and there was no sleeping for me. I was afraid I would miss something.
A LibriVox Listener
The text and story were entertaining. The reader for this version is one of the best LibriVox readers I have ever found, I thoroughly enjoyed both his and Voltaire’s work.
Well Done

A hilarious, easy to follow satire for people well-versed in some of the difficulties of enlightenment thought
Ted made this book great for me!

For years I've picked up Candide and have put it down, vowing to eventually read it. Ted's narration changed everything for me- suddenly I didn't want to put it down, or rather, I couldn't stop listening! Thank you, Ted! Highly recommend.
Cultivating the garden. I'm

Very enjoyable listening. The narrator was wonderful. If I were told he is a professional at narration I would not doubt it. Thank you.
