Confessions (Latin: Confessiones) is the name of an autobiographical work, consisting of 13 books, by St. Augustine of Hippo, written between AD 397 and AD 398. Modern English translations of it are sometimes published under the title The Confessions of St. Augustine in order to distinguish the book from other books with similar titles, such as Jean-Jacques Rousseau's Confessions. Reviews

One of the best books

(5 stars)

This has to be one of the best books to have ever been written

Biography of faith

(3.5 stars)

The first half of this book is read brilliantly, and then a few chapters here & there from then on. But still, it was worth hearing it all to form a picture of the type of man he was. Encouraging spiritual insights and a story of redemption!

Great content, mixed reading

(3 stars)

I enjoyed what I heard in this book, but the reading of some was better than others. the one who did the first several chapters was very good.

Confessions of St. Augustine

Brilliant writing, Wellread with consistent quality

(4 stars)

Great book. I enjoyed seeing the level of detail with which he thinks through each argument and brings you along with him. I do recommend everyone who wants to get a sense of early theology to read this. However I must warn that it does get a bit dense at times, particularly in matters of philosophy, and difficult tl follow. It sometimes felt like a chore, but It is not too long and I'm glad I stuck thrugh the end.

For the book more than the narration

(5 stars)

Some narration was grainy in quality and hard to hear but don't let that get in your way while listening to this recording! Great book, with great insights. Amazingly, humanity is still asking the same questions now as they did over 1600 years ago. It was nice to see that people were the same then as they are now. This book is a treasure trove for anyone with an interest in anthropology.
