Reviews
odd but interesting story

No idea why someone thought this was a religious sort of story. It is a story about the potential for evil that lies in Man. And also about the importance of bringing up children to have a purpose and to understand that they have a role to play in making the world good. Not exactly radical religious ideas.
Eh it's okay

The story is short, and has a bit of action and a bit of sci-fi but is really more preachy than anything. Pity too, because the book starts out promising and then just zips through what could have been a really good story. The reader did an excellent job with this book. 5 stars there. Book is a 3 star. Averaging it out to 4 stars.

It is hard to pinpoint Ray Cummings' pseudo-religious novella as science fiction or fantasy. In either case it fails. Although "The World Beyond" was first published in 2007 as a Project Gutenberg e-book, it has the feel of being one of the author's juvenile works. My 3-star rating is mostly for Richard Kilmer's fine reading.
