The Spell of the Yukon and Other Verses
Robert W. Service
Read by Becky Cook
Known as the Bard of the Yukon and as a people's poet, Robert Service immortalized his experience with the Yukon and its gold rush and this collection of poetry. While some poems are anecdotal and amusing, others capture the raw brilliance that frontiers evoke and the ever pioneering spirit of man. Alternately titled Songs of a Sourdough in the United Kingdoms. (Introduction by Becky) (1 hr 20 min)

if they wrote doggerel (pun intended: service is famous for his dog stories and poems,), it would be something like this. Give it a listen, and as always, thank you glorious LibriVOX volunteers, esp. Becky Cook, who read them perfectly. YOU RULE!!!!!
Farmer's Son
Service was my father's favorite poet. He would read aloud when I was a boy. Readers treated his work very well. Enjoyable and informative.
