Silly Adult Fun

It helps if you are familiar with examples of 19th century erotica and their usually contrived stories and stilted language. Readers give an entertaining, tongue-in-cheek rendering of the story which is as graphic in its descriptions as it is silly.

Okay so I figured this would be a little rated X, but I had also hoped for some history as well. I think the title is what threw me off. I thought it would be a story that told of a woman who became a call girl or something of that nature and why she did. It was basically more of a sex diary with many of the same words and phrases used ad nauseum. It was somewhat entertaining but it got a bit repetitive after a while. The other thing is how on earth these people had all that sex without anyone getting knocked up makes it very hard to believe that any of it w as true. If you are looking for a real change from the ordinary give it a listen. Narration was quite good despite the rather empty storyline.
Boring and repetitive

Once the novelty of the first sex-capade finishes, what you have is chapter after chapter of the 'same old same old'. The words may be explicit but it's not really erotic. The same words, same scenarios. It doesn't help matters that the readers are not good actors (although they read well). When they read the orgasm scenes, I actually laugh because, well, it's not erotic. This may have been titillating in its time but I've read similar books with less sex that were erotic. This wasn't.
puerile distracted and unlistenable.

Main narration is gossipy and puerile. The choice to have separate voice actors lines edited into the narrative is choppy, distracting and technically crappy - uneven voice levels, discontinuity of meter destroys the flow. Pretty fewkin unlistenable. Didn't want listeners to get too into it apparently. Drag.

Great read, even if a little raunchy at times.
True to its subject.

Almost makes you want to learn French at times for all the naughty words.
