The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
Mark Twain
Read by John Greenman

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (published 1876) is a very well-known and popular story concerning American youth. Mark Twain's lively tale of the scrapes and adventures of boyhood is set in St. Petersburg, Missouri, where Tom Sawyer and his friend Huckleberry Finn have the kinds of adventures many boys can imagine: racing bugs during class, impressing girls, especially Becky Thatcher, with fights and stunts in the schoolyard, getting lost in a cave, and playing pirates on the Mississippi River.
One of the most famous incidents in the book describes how Tom persuades his friends to do a boring, hateful chore for him: whitewashing (i.e., painting) a fence.
This was the first novel to be written on a typewriter.

The narrator is amazing, he gives life and personality to every character in the book, he brings Tom Sawyer to life in anyone's imagination everytime he reads his words. The book itself made me have fun, it made me feel like I had the adventures the boys had, like I was a friend that ran alongside them. Really fun and light-hearted, it will make you feel like a kid.
I love this book!!

Twain caputures and provides his readers an era where curiosity and adventure ran rampant through young boys and girls minds... However other aspects, in particular slavery and labeling, serve to remind us of how narrow our minds can develop. This provides an learning opportunity for our younger readers.
Fantastic!

Fantastic classic by Mark Twain. Even a great film rendering, while it would surely be enjoyable, could not ever do it justice because it would lack much if not all of the charming narration. Audiobook well read.

Listening to this speaker reminds me of the narrator from “A Christmas Story”. The voice draws you in and leaves you feeling like you are right there with Tom or Huck. Very good!!
