The Tyranny of Weakness

(4.1 stars; 30 reviews)

Torn between her love for her aging father, a minister steeped in the puritanical values of old New England, and the young Virginian who was born and raised of southern chivalrous tradition, the many and conflicting emotions which stir deep within Conscience Williams envelop this tale of desire, devotion, inner strength, devious treachery, and individuality of spirit.

There would be many obstacles in the path of Conscience's future, and many trials to overcome. Fate has a way of molding inequities in our lives; circumstance is often a veil stronger than the human will can endure. In summarized simplicity, The Tyranny of Weakness is a gripping and intense story of life. However it is also a complex and compelling story of injustice in the face of sincerity; of conflicting traditions; of generational differences; of bold deceit; and of inner strength in dealing with family bonds. I detest those who abuse the good book. this story is an example of it's human ignorance. even though the father and the wrongful husband have wickedly used the word to keep the lovers apart, in the end, the word will bring them together. for 3 things in the word will last forever: faith, hope, and love.

I concur. Once the plot started thickening I couldn’t put it down. The male protagonist is the embodiment of strength and valor. Self-confidence is so sexy. The father and the husband are fanatical bigots and hypocrites. Their kind of hate-mongering still exists Catch it on Fox New.

Waste of time

It was excellently read, but it was a convoluted story, leading to a pathetic ending. Annoying to get to the end & realise you wasted time listening to a hollow shell of a love story.

Wow!

What an amazing story! I was hooked from word one & couldn't stop listening until the highly-satisfying conclusion. I especially love that there was left no need for regrets.
