Richard III is an early history play probably written and performed around 1592-93. It is the culmination of Shakespeare's earlier three plays about Henry VI, and chronicles the bloody career of Richard, Duke of Gloucester. As the play opens, the Wars of the Roses are over, King Edward IV (Richard's brother) is on the throne, and all is ostensibly well. The problem? Richard wants to be king - and he'll stop at nothing to realize his ambition. (Summary by Elizabeth Klett)

Brilliant

I LOVE Librivox Shakespeare! It reminds us that we don't have to be professionals to record Shakespeare (though, by the sound of this, more than half of them MUST be!)

A Pleasure

I absolutely love this! I've been looking everywhere for a copy of this to help with my school work. And it's free! Completely brilliant! I now understand the play far more than I did just reading it

Excellent!

This was an excellent reading. All the reader's done an excellent job but the two that stood out for me were the ones playing Queen Margaret and Richard iii, they did themselves proud

An amazing end and culmination to Shakespeare's eight plays long Wars of the Roses saga. The charismatic and diabolic Richard III is undoubtedly one of literature's most iconic villains.

good reading, pretty good audio quality throughout.

Good script... Poor Acting

(3 stars)

Sad that Americans can no longer discern true acting from false. The words are magnificent, but spoken with stiff wood. BTW: now that we truly know the exact facts of Richard's being and demise, along with the falsehood of some if his knights, it is gladdening to know that whomever this writer was, got it RIGHT.

Strangely, my favorite Shakespeare thus far. The readers are wonderful. I’m so grateful to be able to listen and read! The gentleman who read Richard is incredible and I probably even have a little crush on how he read Richard! Well done!

We don't do sound effects
