i've just finished this and it's really lovely. i've tried before to read the book, but somehow i couldn't get through it but this recording is what finally got me to finish this novel. Savage is such a nicely paced and dynamic reader. she adds enough twists to each character to make them different and memorable without being overbearing, i really enjoyed this reading, so thank you for doing it. (my original review from a few months ago: only just started, but it's really good so far, nicely read, and well paced.)

Outstanding

Jane Austen read by Karen Savage - who could ask for more? Karen's interpretation is wonderful. Her reading of Captain Wentworth's letter is superb. I also have her Pride and Prejudice down loaded in my library. The best way to enjoy Jane Austen when you're not abke to sit down with the book.

I enjoyed a brief glimpse into the times, language, mores of this time period. The insight into daily life of the upper crust and their habits are interesting even if the characters and plot are a bit predictable. The reader was excellent and I enjoyed the story as a respite from our modern world.

Excellent reading. Karen Savage is skilled and well paced, and her wonderful performance allowed me to get lost in the story. Thank you to Ms Savage!

A Favourite!

Every 4-5 years I reread or listen to Jane Austens books. This version by Karen Savage is my goto when listening. New generation of family members, interested in JA books, have been introduced to this librovox version and have all enjoyed KS narration of this story.

Superb!

After seeing a movie adaptation of this novel, I wanted to hear the real thing and Ms. Savage delivered. Her reading of the text kept my interest and her rendering of the different characters was outstanding. Another triumph for Librivox!

In the first few minutes the reading feels almost rushed, but as it continues Savage slows down a bit which I appreciate. She is particularly good giving the different characters their own voices. I especially enjoyed her rendition of Anne's father.

Jane Austen's women

(4 stars)

Jane Austen values reason and good heartedness over any virtue of money or good looks. she demonstrates this as she unfolds Ann's tale to us. however good manners tend to shroud the Goodwill of others.
