Hear It Now
The MacArthur-Truman Controversy
by
Hear It Now was a CBS radio news documentary series hosted by journalist Edward R. Murrow. It brought listeners close to major events through reporting, interviews, and the voices of people involved, with Murrow guiding the program’s account.
This recording focuses on the MacArthur-Truman controversy, a major dispute over U.S. policy during the Korean War. The program’s documentary approach offers a way to hear the issue presented through contemporary news coverage and discussion, rather than as a later historical summary.
Murrow’s measured narration and the use of recorded voices give the series a serious, immediate feel. Its appeal lies in hearing public events unfold through the language and perspectives of the time.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
