Duffy's Tavern
Jack Benny
by
Duffy's Tavern is a comedy set in a neighborhood bar run by Archie, its quick-talking, self-important manager. He regularly tries to reach the unseen owner, Mr. Duffy, while dealing with the tavern's customers and the everyday complications that arrive at the bar.
The program blends dialogue-driven comedy with guest appearances, sketches, and musical interludes. Its familiar setting gives Archie plenty of room for malapropisms, schemes, and exchanges with the people who drift through the tavern. Jack Benny is identified with this recording, bringing the appeal of a guest appearance to the show's comic world.
The tone is warm and conversational, built around Archie's confident bluster and the lively back-and-forth of a radio comedy ensemble. The tavern feels like a small stage where a simple visit or request can turn into an amusing exchange, making the show an inviting listen for fans of character-based comedy.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
