Treasury Star Parade

They Also Serve

English · Drama, Radio

Treasury Star Parade is a wartime radio anthology created to support the U.S. Treasury’s efforts to promote the purchase of war bonds. Its short dramatic programs bring listeners stories shaped by service, sacrifice, and life on the home front.

Each installment presents a self-contained radio play, with actors using dialogue, narration, and sound to bring its subject to life. The series drew on the talents of well-known performers and offered a range of dramatic situations connected to the wartime experience. “They Also Serve” is the title associated with this recording.

The result is direct, earnest radio drama: concise storytelling with a patriotic purpose, reflecting the period’s appeal for public participation in the war effort. Its blend of entertainment and civic message offers a glimpse of how popular radio addressed the responsibilities and emotions of wartime America.

This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
