Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
par The Gawain Poet
Lu par Alexandria Adair
King Arthur and his knights and ladies are enjoying a New Year's feast when the Green Knight enters their midst and offers a strange challenge! A knight has one chance to strike a blow on him without resistance, so long as the Green Knight gets to do the same to that night one year later. Our impetuous Sir Gawain takes up the challenge and chops the Green Knight's head off, but the Green Knight simply picks up his head and walks off, telling Gawain where to find him next year! Sir Gawain must make up his mind whether to keep his word and face the potentially disastrous consequences, or bear the shame of having broken his oath for the rest of his life!
