premise needs a different atmosphere
Jon Mark Wilson
Good reading of this yarn, no complaints with the audio production. It is refreshing that this Wallace tale does not rely on the stereotypes of British imperial chauvinism. But the pacing lags, and the mood is too light-hearted for the grisly business described. Tropes of blindness and darkness could have been played into something much more Gothic. It is as though he was writing a psycho thriller without knowing how.
