Sammy Kaye
Toot Toot Tootsie
by
Sammy Kaye’s radio program brings the bandleader’s popular dance orchestra to the microphone. Known for its smooth, polished sound and the “Swing and Sway” style, the music offers an easygoing blend of dance-band arrangements and familiar popular songs.
Listeners can settle into the orchestra’s performance and enjoy the period’s big-band atmosphere, with Sammy Kaye’s name at the center of a program built around music rather than a dramatic storyline. The title “Toot Toot Tootsie” points to a well-known song, while the recording’s appeal lies in hearing Kaye’s orchestra present popular music in its characteristic, accessible style.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
