Memorials of a Tour on the Continent 1820

Read by Alan Mapstone

In 1820 William Wordsworth, in company with his wife Mary and sister Dorothy, undertook a tour of continental Europe, visiting Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and France. The journey followed the approximate route of Wordsworth's youthful walking tour in 1790, but in the opposite direction.

These poems record his memories of the tour and contrast them with his memories of the earlier journey.
