Princess O'Hara
by Damon Runyon
The Damon Runyon Theater brings the colorful world of Damon Runyon’s stories to radio, with New York gamblers, hustlers, show people, and other vivid characters at its center. The episode title, “Princess O’Hara,” points to a story drawn from Runyon’s distinctive body of work.
These broadcasts adapt Runyon’s fiction as dramatic radio, using performers, dialogue, and sound to bring its streetwise characters and lively situations to life. Runyon’s stories are known for their memorable voices and playful, stylized language, giving the program a flavor quite different from a conventional crime drama.
The result is a blend of urban comedy, romance, and underworld intrigue, with warmth beneath the wisecracks. Listeners can settle into a sharply observed tale shaped by Runyon’s unmistakable storytelling style.
