The Great McGinty
par
Academy Award Theater brings acclaimed motion-picture stories to radio, adapting films for a dramatic broadcast. Each program offers a self-contained story, with performers using dialogue, music, and sound effects to create a cinematic experience through sound.
This recording presents The Great McGinty, the title of the story featured in this program. The series’ film adaptations make it a way to encounter familiar screen material in a different form, with the plot carried by the voices and atmosphere of radio drama.
Listeners can expect a dramatic presentation rather than a narrated reading, with the focus on the story and its characters. The result is a compact meeting of Hollywood storytelling and radio performance.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
