Al Jolson Colgate Program
Monty Woolley
by
Al Jolson leads this variety program, bringing his familiar singing and comic personality to a broadcast featuring guest performer Monty Woolley. The show offers a blend of music and entertainment centered on Jolson, with Woolley adding a distinctive presence to this installment.
As a radio variety program, it brings performers together through spoken comedy and musical entertainment rather than a single continuous dramatic story. Jolson’s energetic delivery and stage-trained showmanship give the broadcast its focus, while the guest appearance provides another voice and personality for listeners to enjoy.
The result is a lively snapshot of classic American radio variety: personable, performance-driven, and shaped by the contrast between Jolson’s exuberance and Woolley’s characterful style.
