Gunsmoke - rare episodes

These are two rare episodes of Gunsmoke. "Homely Girl" was found in Australia in 2014 and is an AFRTS recording. The story is by Kathleen Hite, featuring regulars William Conrad, Parley Baer, Georgia Ellis, and Howard McNear, along with Virginia Gregg and Vic Perrin.

The second episode, "The Ride Back," was rediscovered in 2022 in a classic radio program collection that had not been available for many decades. This episode features a compelling dialogue between William Conrad as Matt Dillon and Lawrence Dobkin as Leeds Martin, as they navigate dangerous encounters while transporting a prisoner back to Dodge. The music and sound effects play a critical role in the production, enhancing the storytelling experience.

Notably, the script for "The Ride Back" was written by Antony Ellis, who would go on to write several scripts for the Gunsmoke radio series. William Conrad was so impressed with the script that he believed it could be adapted into a movie, which eventually happened in 1957.
