King of Bath: A BBC Radio Comedy Series
BBC Radio 4
The adventures and misadventures of 18th-century dandy Richard ‘Beau’ Nash unfold in the fashionable spa town of Bath. As the self-proclaimed ‘King of Bath’, Beau Nash is the arbiter of taste and elegance, presiding over the city’s social life as Master of Ceremonies. He arranges balls and concerts for the elite, while keeping a discreet eye on distinguished visitors and smoothing over any quarrels.
In these six episodes, Beau Nash faces various challenges, from saving an heiress from her wealthy aunt’s wrath to averting a tragedy involving a duelling German Count. He also navigates his Welsh origins to gain royal approval for his cordial, helps his nephew Ambrose realize his dream of running a school, and even turns detective to track down a highwayman, only to find that all clues point to him.
