United States Government and Unit
Read by Shurtagal
The Amendments to the United States Constitution represent a vital evolution of American democracy, encapsulating the rights and freedoms that define the nation. This collection of amendments, including the foundational Bill of Rights, addresses the concerns of early American settlers and continues to shape the legal landscape of the country.
Initially ratified in 1791, the Bill of Rights comprises the first ten amendments, which were crafted to protect citizens from government overreach and ensure fundamental liberties such as freedom of speech, the right to bear arms, and protection against unreasonable searches. Over the years, additional amendments have been added, reflecting the changing values and needs of society, including the significant amendment that lowered the voting age to 18 during the tumultuous era of the Vietnam War.
This audiobook offers listeners a comprehensive understanding of the amendments, their historical context, and their ongoing relevance in contemporary discussions about rights and governance. Explore how these amendments not only address past grievances but also continue to influence the rights of American citizens today.

While I appreciate the effort it takes for anyone to load up a work in Librivox, this one needs some work. The reader reads way too quickly and slurs his words along the way.

Was the Reader late for a hot date? I was able to understand only because I have read and heard others cite individual amendments countless times.
