Winnie-the-Pooh

Read by Phil Chenevert

(4.9 stars; 55 reviews)

Winnie the Pooh, the loveable little bear with a great big heart (and only a slightly less large appetite for honey), has fun and adventures in this book. All of the other residents of the 100 acre wood join in to help this happen. Rabbit, Piglet, Owl, Kanga and Roo and of course the every depressed Eeyore who manages to lose his tail somehow. But what more needs to be said except that it Christopher Robin and Pooh are here? Listen and enjoy. - Summary by phil chenevert (2 hr 54 min)

Winnie-the-Pooh is a timeless classic, and I'm glad that it's been recorded on LibriVox. The fact that this was posted so soon after Winnie-the-Pooh entered the public domain (1-2 weeks) shows how just how incredible these stories are. While Winnie-The-Pooh is predominantly for children, adults will certainly not find the humor lacking. It has aged very well, and despite being written way back in 1926; there is no racism whatsoever, and no sexist ideas. When he began writing this collection of (mis)adventures, Milne was beginning a masterpiece. In only a few short years (as of this writing), The House At Pooh Corner (another collection of Winnie-the-Pooh stories) will also be in the public domain, and I sincerely hope that Mr. Chenevert volunteers to read it, as he did this one. He is one of the best readers on LibriVox, and one of the quickest content-generators as well. Overall, a thoroughly wonderful recording, and this one will most certainly be earning a five-star review from me. Thank you, Mr. Chenevert!
