A Clockwork Orange By Anthony Burgess

(4.9 stars; 10 reviews)

A Clockwork Orange is a dramatisation of the controversial dystopian classic about crime and punishment. It follows Alex and his vicious gang of 'droogs' as they revel in horrific violence, communicating in 'Nadsat', their own hybridisation of Russian and English slang. When a drug-fuelled night of fun ends in murder, Alex is arrested and given a choice: be brainwashed into a good citizen or face a lifetime in prison.

This adaptation features an original score composed by Anthony Burgess, with new orchestration by Iain Farrington. It was performed live with the BBC Philharmonic as part of a season of poetry and performance from Hull. The production was directed by Gary Brown and first broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on October 1, 2017.

This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
