Blood Wedding
Blood Wedding by Federico Garcia Lorca, adapted by Ted Hughes, is an evocative meditation on fate, war, tradition, passion, and repression. Inspired by the true story of a fatal feud between two families in the Almeria province, high in the mountains of rural Spain, this adaptation brings to life the torn passions of its protagonists.
The play features a rich cast, including Barbara Flynn as the Mother of the Bridegroom, Carl Prekopp as the Bridegroom/Woodcutter, and Sarah Smart as the Bride. The story unfolds under the watchful gaze of the moon, a beautiful and terrible personification of death, as it explores themes of freedom, Andalusianism, symbolism, and the dramatic essence of poetry.
