Thomas Mann The Magic Mountain
Thomas Mann
The Magic Mountain, a novel by Thomas Mann, is brought to life in this dramatic adaptation. The story follows Hans Castorp, a young engineer who visits a sanatorium in the Alps to see his cousin Joachim, only to find himself diagnosed with tuberculosis and staying for seven years.
During his time at the sanatorium, Hans becomes entangled in a world governed by its own rules and morality, falling in love with the beautiful Russian patient Clavdia, who does not return his affections. As the threat of the First World War looms, Hans is finally compelled to confront the life he has been avoiding.
This adaptation features a talented cast, including Paul Scofield as the voice of Thomas Mann and Robert Whitelock as Hans Castorp, among others. The production is enriched by music composed by Colin Sell and directed by Alison Hindell.
