(0.5 estrellas; 7 reseñas)

Adapted by Olwen Wymark and directed by Alison Hindell, this adaptation of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn's 'Cancer Ward' explores the grim realities of life in mid-20th century Russian society. Set in Tashkent in 1955, the story presents a powerful allegory of survival amidst the harsh conditions faced by terminal hospital patients and internal exiles.

The narrative poses a poignant question: 'A man dies from a tumour, so how can a country survive with growths like labour camps and exiles?' With music by Colin Sell, this production brings to life the struggles and resilience of individuals at the margins of society.
