The Jimmy Durante Show
All of us have schnozzles . . . if not in our faces, then in our character, minds or habits. When we admit our schnozzles, instead of defending them, we begin to laugh, and the world laughs with us. Jimmy Durante, nicknamed "Schnozzola" for his oversized nose, was a star in the Golden Age of Radio, known for his unique style and humor.
Durante first gained prominence as a teenager in New York's restaurant and nightclub circuit. His aggressive interaction with musicians and penchant for destroying pianos in mock frustration made him a favorite. By the mid-1920s, he was featured in vaudeville and had become a Broadway star by the 1930s.
His radio career took off with the "Chase and Sanborn Hour" and continued with his own series, "The Jimmy Durante Show," which showcased his loud, boisterous personality and comedic talent. Durante's ability to connect with audiences made him a beloved figure, and his legacy endures in the hearts of fans today.
