After most people in the world are blinded by an apparent meteor shower, an aggressive species of plant starts killing people. Category: Science fiction A meteor shower lights up the sky all over the earth.  This causes blindness in anyone who has looked at it.  A plant species, the Triffids, also undergoes a sudden rapid growth after which they turn out to have become meter-high killing plants that can move.  These plants are rapidly increasing in numbers and are spreading all over the world. A London biologist has had eye surgery and is therefore not affected by blindness.  While almost the entire world population is blind and human society everywhere is collapsing, he seeks safety with a few companions.  London and the English countryside are chaotic.
