Stories Of Sherlock Holmes

Read by Graham Armitage

(4.7 stars; 53 reviews)

Stories of Sherlock Holmes ran on South African 'Springbok Radio' in the early 1980s. This collection features Graham Armitage as Sherlock Holmes and Kerry Jordan as Dr. Watson. Unlike the bumbling Watson portrayed by Nigel Bruce, this version presents a more competent character.

The stories in this series do not strictly adhere to the original canon created by Arthur Conan Doyle, offering a fresh take on the beloved detective tales.

This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.

Sir Arthur would be so proud!

2 or 3 duplicates, and 4 with the original internet radio adds and songs included. So needs some editing. One or two of Doyles originals reworked, but the rest are all inspired new stories. And the great man would indeed have been proud. Great writing and acting and production from this South African team. Slight liberties with this Holmes being more extroverted. Some thrillers as well, The Cross murder episode was one of my faves. Highly recommended if you are a Holmes or detective story fan. Going to miss the violins and flower sellers intro. Loved this!

Enjoyable

I rather enjoyed these shows, as I enjoy all things Sherlock Holmes. The Dr. Watson here is not the bumbling Nigel Bruce, and I enjoyed that as well. Too bad there weren't more of these shows

Enjoyable

These are new stories about Sherlock Holmes, not written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. But they are very well done, and I really enjoyed listening to each of them.

AWESOME
