Voyage Of The Scarlet Queen
Gil Doud et Robert Tallman
The Voyage of the Scarlet Queen was a very creative, well-written, and produced series on Mutual from 1947 to 1948. It starred Elliott Lewis and featured many of Hollywood's best-known radio actors. Its scripts were written by Gil Doud and Robert Tallman, among the best and most prolific of radio's writers.
The series lasted 36 episodes. The first twenty episodes follow the Scarlet Queen on its trip from San Francisco to many South Pacific ports in search of rare and valuable Chinese artifacts on behalf of a Chinese national and shipping magnate, Kang, who wants to restore them to China. There is a competitive buyer named Constantino who wants to drive up the prices of the items by finding them before Kang does. This is considered the most interesting part of the series, with the following sixteen episodes featuring continuing themes but more self-contained storylines.
