I haven't listened to more than ten percent of these, but from my decades of hearing "old time radio" shows I know these accurately reflect the way folks thought and felt. By today's standards they may seem corny, sexist and racist. In those times attitudes were different and they're reflected here. To enjoy the entertainment one needs to accept and be open to a vastly different era. Things went slower, people accepted old jokes, believed that might didn't always make right and caring about one's neighbors was expected. If those feelings are wrong, maybe we need to look at today's attitudes and check on our prejudices and false beliefs. The art of an era reflects its society. What do today's arts say about who we are? Enjoy these shows without judgment, they were what earlier generations of Americans loved. They deserve our consideration.

What a wonderful collection! I especially enjoyed the shows hosted by Bob Hope, airing from veteran hospitals. Funny and at the same time poignant. These really got me in the Christmas spirit this year. I’ll be back next year for more.

Halfway through FDR's Fireside Talk, a simple and repetitive electronic version of "Hit Me Baby One More Time" starts playing along with the sound of Roosevelt's voice. What the heck? Very annoying and distracting and.....just plain weird.
