A pleasant surprise

Very well written shows with great performance by the various main characters, though Edmond O'Brien is my favourite. Although otr was for the most part pre television the production values are very high. I always thought that it was only the BBC who could produce programmes of high quality, but so many otr programmes speak to the contrary: 21st Precinct, Dragnet, CBS Theatre (a bit later), Richard Diamond etc, etc.
This is as hard boiled as Johnny Dollar ever got

If you like hard boiled noir, then this is the Johnny Dollar for you. I like Bob Bailey best, but these are done very well. Edmond O'Brien does a good job as the hard boiled Johnny. No fear, no favor, very little remorse, just a little bit of sympathy.

It's tought to do a mystery story in only 30 minutes, imo, but there are some very good episodes here. My top 5 (not in order): The S.S. Malay Trader The Eighty-Five Little Minks The Trans-Pacific Export Matter The Coligio Diamond Matter The Amelia Harwell Matter
Good Show. Good Audio On All Actors.

Edmund O'Brien is a nicer JD than Bob Bailey.
