(4.7 stars; 43 reviews)

Frank L. Packard worked as a civil engineer for the Canadian Pacific Railway. He brings this experience to the fictional Hill Division -- those those twisting, climbing, dangerous and glorious miles of track that lead from the Division Point at Big Cloud over the magnificent but treacherous Rockies to the straight and level Pacific Division. Here are fifteen stories of exciting times on the Hill Division and of the remarkable men—Regan, Carlton, Spence and all the others—whose determination, ability, even heroism, tamed the fabulous Hill Division. Fantastic reading of a nearly forgotten masterpiece

(5 stars)

Frank Packard's exciting railroad adventures read with feeling and verve. This is the best reading the best. As a retired railroader, I love the vernacular. Amazingly, railroad technology hasn't changed that much in 100 plus years, so the descriptions of train operations make sense even today. But Delmar's reading is the icing on the cake.

Really, Really Enjoyable

This is a wonderful collection of stories, with characters that you find yourself caring about, very quickly. Mr. Dolbier does an excellent job reading and bringing the characters to life. Well done. Thank you!

Thanks

He is a great reader, but if you want someone slightly better try Mark. F. Smith. He has read many, many, good books as well.

There isn't a better person reading for ANY e-book ANYWHERE. This man makes the stories come alive. A true joy to listen to.
