Sandra Michael
"Against the Storm" is a captivating Old Time Radio soap opera that began its first run on NBC on October 16, 1939. This program, which ran for a total of 13 years, depicted the everyday lives of Professor Jason McKinley Allen and his family at the fictional Deep Pool Farm in Hawthorne, Connecticut. The show was notable for being the only daytime radio serial to win a Peabody Award in 1942.
Despite its success, the program faced challenges and was ultimately axed in December 1942. It returned briefly in 1949 on Mutual Broadcasting System and had a final run with ABC from October 1951 until June 1952. Sponsored by Proctor & Gamble's Ivory Snow Flakes, this 15-minute drama was a staple of afternoon radio, often followed by another popular show, "The Guiding Light."
While only 18 episodes are available, the series remains a cherished memory for those who experienced its original broadcasts. Enjoy this nostalgic journey back to the golden age of radio!

poor sound quality

I was really excited about finding a radio soap opera. Unfortunately, the static overpowers the sound of the speakers. I am listening. On an iPad mini. Maybe someone with better sound adjustment capability can tweet the highs and get to enjoys this series!
