Armed Forces Radio Service
G.I. Jive was a 15-minute music program produced and broadcast by the U.S. government via the Armed Forces Radio Service (AFRS) radio network. Early shows featured a variety of hosts, including Frank Nelson, Lester Jay, and popular pin-up girls like Donna Reed as guest DJs. In 1943, G.I. Jill (Martha Wilkerson) took over as the main host, and the show quickly became the most popular program on AFRS.
