Pursued by the police and a gang of German spies intent on recovering a secret notebook, Hannay must navigate a dangerous path.

The conclusion, 'The Coming of the Black Stone', sees Hannay continuing to evade his pursuers while trying to solve the mystery of the 39 steps. This thrilling adaptation features a talented cast, including David Robb as Hannay and Tom Baker as Bullivant, under the direction of Bruce Young.
